Tramopline Gala & Grades
-----------------------------
On Saturday / Sunday 12/13 June Amy Sims and Elizabeth Swain from Focus Institute of Gymnastics competed in the National Gala Competition.
Amy Sims competed in FIG (Federation of International Gymnastics) Grade B with Elizabeth Swain competing in National C.
Both girls performed strongly with Amy Sims finishing in second place and Elizabeth Swain in 9th place, both girls earned the qualification score to compete at the British Championships in July.
This will be the first British Championships in trampolining for Focus Institute of Gymnastics and we wish the girls the best of luck.
On Sunday 20th June, six trampoline gymnasts represented Focus Institute of Gymnastics at the North West regional grades in Bury.
Daniel McCaffrey aged 13, had achieved the elevated qualification score at the Regional grading in March, allowing him to skip a grade and progress from the entry grade G level to grade E.
Daniel again impressed the judges obtaining qualification to regional Grade D and finishing with the highest score in his group.
Daniel is proving to be a very talented trampolinists and after only six months in the sport is well on track to compete at National level next year.
Olivia Kenny aged 10 achieved the qualification score at the Regional grading in March, allowing her to progress from the entry grade G level to grade F.
Olivia performed two technically strong routines obtaining qualification to regional Grade E, and finishing with the highest score in her group - a fantastic achievement in this very competitive under 15's age group.
Team mate Toni Brown also performed two solid routines, at age 8 Toni was one of the youngest in this strong group,
Toni missed the qualification mark narrowly but showed her future potential amongst this much older group.
Tom Corlett aged 9 and Chris Maher age 13 rose to the challenge in the Under 15's Grade G event. Both boys achieved their qualification score and also got
the highest and second highest scores for this group. Jemma Roscoe took on her first ever regional grading place, an unfortunate mistake in her first routine cost her the qualification
score but she went on to impress the judges in the second round.
The members of the squad are all progressing well, with many more members developing skills
ready to enter the grading system in January - hopefully a few more members from Focus Institute of Gymnastics will be competing in the British Championships in 2011.
